The 44 Club was founded in 1944, by some prominent Wolverhampton businessmen, including Don
Everall and Cliff Rhodes, who had been Home Guardsman during WW2, and wanted to continue
shooting after the war. They purchased the building known as Rookery Hall in Spring Rd, converting the
old stable building to a shooting range. The Club buildings opened in 1945.
The club has been extended over the years with the last extension being a purpose built Snooker room
and new toilet blocks to serve the club room and the new function and entertainment room into which
the old snooker room was converted.
The Club offers facilities for snooker, bowls, and darts, and hosts several league teams as well as hosting
a domino team. The shooting section exists as a specialist section of the Club offering facilities for
shooting Full Bore .38 and .44 and .22 rifle and air guns.
The function room is available for hire, and the Club can offer buffet catering if customers do not wish to
provide their own. The function room is provided free to members.
